Cowlingweb

OK not really a genealogy website but an interesting site about Cowling village.  This is where my Dawson ancestors come from.  There is a useful message board facility, lots of old photographs, local history and family history resources.

The link below now takes you to  Facebook page of Cowling old photos and archives. Think you have to join the group to view what’s available.

Ancestry website

The website I use most for my research – birth, marriage and death registers as well as census returns from 1841 to 1901.  There are also lots of other databases available.  Your level of access depends on the type of subscription you take out.  You can also upload your family tree from your computer as a GEDCOM file or compile and maintain it on line.  Good community of other researchers.

Craven Indexes

A local family history and local history research service within the Craven area – Bradley, Broughton, Carlton, Cononley, Cowling, Farnhill, Ickornshaw, Kildwick, Silsden, Skipton and Sutton.  They can also supply copies of the transcribed Craven Indexes in digital format.

Find My Past

I’ve recently taken out a subscription to FMP.  They have birth, marriage and death registers as well as census returns from 1841 to 1911.  There are also lots of other databases available.

  1. I have not seen an index of the cemetery in Cowling or Parish records. Have you found anything like Find-A-Grave report for Cowling?
