Hello – I’ve taken a break from blogging over the summer.
It has allowed me time to do some research for other people which I really enjoy. Also me and Mrs D have taken up “hiking” or really just strolling gently on a Sunday around our lovely Yorkshire countryside – this has stopped me becoming almost permanently attached to my computer.
I now need to re-connect with some relatives who have contacted me through my blog over the last year. I discovered new relatives in Yorkshire and in Australia.

Hi Mike, I too am connected through John (c1812). son of John Dawson and Ann Watson.
I am interested in relatives in Australia as my great Uncle Walter Dawson in his teens went to Australia in the early 1900s with his Aunt Alice Dogeson (nee Dawson) he carried on to NZ later.
The piece about the Ikornshaw mill was marvellous. .

Hi Lyne – thanks for your comment. I come from Thomas Dawson (b 1819) son of John Dawson and Ann Watson. He was a brother of your John Dawson (c1812). Assuming my research is correct I have your John marrying Elizabeth Benson. I have to admit I haven’t got Walter in my tree. But I do Alice Dawson who married Frederick William Dodgson. I would love to have more information about your great uncle Walter. Lyne, where does your line come from after John Dawson (c1812)?
